Historic Frame Conservation and Gilding
Stegmaier Masterworks conserves and restores historic frames using traditional gilding techniques — including both water and oil gilding — guided by modern conservation principles. All treatments are performed in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
Each treatment is carefully documented through photographs taken before, during, and after the process, accompanied by written reports detailing all procedures and materials used. All materials are selected for their stability, reversibility, and visual compatibility.
